Bossing it at our Bromley Taster Session
More than 40 women gathered at The Warren this week for a free workshop packed with advice for mums looking to return to work or become their own bosses.
Presented by Successful Mums founder Jane Knight, the lively session touched on topics including how we’d pitch our businesses to Sir Richard if we found ourselves in a lift with him, how an ‘amusing’ email address could scupper your job search and why an invisible crown could be the key to boosting your confidence.
Jane and the team were also honoured to be joined by the brilliant Susanna Lawson, co-founder and director of software company OneFile – and HSBC’s Businesswoman of the Year.
Susanna shared her inspiring story of starting her own business and steering it through a period of rapid growth while raising her two young children. She recalled how, returning to work after maternity leave with her first child six years ago, her confidence was in tatters – something to which many of us in the room could relate – and offered invaluable advice for women experiencing the same situation.
Susanna also shared her top tips for working mums – which you can find here – and revealed a secret benefit of going back to work that you might not have considered…
Networking was high on Susanna’s list of essentials for working mums and there was plenty of it going on at the Taster. Encouraging collaboration and connections between our Successful Mums is really important to us, so it’s great to see it in action.
One of our hardest-working networkers was Harriet Buckingham, who captured the workshop on camera for us. Mum-of-two Harriet has decided to take her photography business to the next level and has signed up for our popular Business Start-up course. Good luck Harriet – we look forward to catching up with you on the other side!
And if you missed out on our workshop this week, we have more Taster Sessions planned in Bromley and Hayes so book your free place today.
